My Cross-Field Internship as an Arts Student

From a Confused Arts Student to Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone: Discovering the Working World and Finding Inspiration at Tri Petch Isuzu Sales “A great company starts by taking great care of its people.”

Hi everyone! I’m Nene, an English major from the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. I recently completed an internship as an After-Sales Marketing trainee at Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co., Ltd.

Why Marketing at Tri Petch?

People often ask me, "Why marketing if you study Arts?"

I have always been interested in marketing and wanted to give it a try. I love watching brand analysis clips on TikTok and looking at billboards during traffic jams, wondering, "Why did they choose those words?" or "How could I phrase this to make it more impactful?"

Because I found these questions fun, I decided to take marketing courses in my second year. I realized it wasn't as hard as I thought. Communication, critical thinking, and understanding human nature skills. I developed in the Faculty of Arts and applied directly to marketing without having to start from scratch.

Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

Switching fields to work at a large company like Tri Petch was intimidating at first. I only had classroom theory and zero practical experience. But once I started, my anxiety turned into excitement. My responsibilities covered both offline and online marketing:

Offline Marketing: I analyzed media at service centers, designed artwork for posters and leaflets, and brainstormed campaigns to bring in customers. Fortunately, my seniors and fellow interns helped turn my raw ideas into structured plans. They also taught me how to analyze data and truly understand Isuzu's customer journey.

Online Marketing: This was my creative playground. I initiated key messages, developed content concepts, and designed graphics. The biggest takeaway for me was that creativity alone is not enough. It has to meet the needs of the target audience. I also learned how to measure campaign results systematically.

What I Loved About the Company

Besides the work itself, the workplace culture was the best part of the experience:

  • Supportive Team: Everyone was friendly, respectful, and always gave credit to interns for their work.
  • Clear Communication: Regular work updates allowed us to solve problems quickly.
  • High Flexibility: The work environment was open and adaptable.
  • Benefits: The benefits here are awesome. We've got accident insurance, fitness, and even board games!

From an Arts student who used to worry about her post-graduation plans, I have now found my work style, new inspiration, and confidence in my career path. My experience at Tri Petch Isuzu taught me a key lesson: "A great company starts by taking great care of its people."
