Isuzu Continues the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” Project at the 47th School, Ban Lai Soong School, Ubon Ratchathani

Isuzu Group in Thailand, led by Mr. Hiroyasu Sato, President of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co., Ltd., together with Mr. Somsri Promyat, Director of the Groundwater Resources Office Region 11, Department of Groundwater Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, continues its commitment to creating positive change for society and communities. Most recently, Isuzu delivered a clean drinking water system under the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” project to Ban Lai Soong School in Trakan Phuet Phon District, Ubon Ratchathani. The initiative aims to improve the quality of life for students and teachers, as well as people in the surrounding community, while reaffirming Isuzu’s business philosophy, “Isuzu Spirit”: that is “deliver happiness, prosperity to users and contribute to society.”

Mr. Hiroyasu Sato, President of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co., Ltd., said, “The ‘Isuzu Gives Water… for Life’ project is a long-term social initiative that Isuzu Group has continuously carried out with the intention of providing clean drinking water to schools across Thailand. We aim to ensure that students and school personnel have sufficient and sustainable access to clean water for consumption and daily use. Even during challenging times and difficult circumstances, Isuzu Group remains committed to continuing the ‘Isuzu Gives Water… for Life’ project. We hope to contribute to a better quality of life for Thai youth and continue passing on positive contributions to society.”

Ban Lai Soong School, located in Lai Thung Subdistrict, Trakan Phuet Phon District, Ubon Ratchathani, provides education from Kindergarten 2 through Grade 6. The school has faced ongoing challenges in accessing clean water for consumption and daily use, as local water sources are unsuitable due to issues including rusty, salty, and brackish water. These issues cannot be adequately addressed using the school’s existing conventional water filtration system. As a result, the school has had to purchase drinking water for all consumption, approximately 15 containers per week at THB 15 per container, resulting in an estimated expense of THB 900 per month. Support from the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” project will help reduce the school’s financial burden for purchasing drinking water, allowing the school to redirect its budget toward other areas that require development and support. To address the issue, Isuzu Group and officials from the Department of Groundwater Resources conducted an on-site survey and installed a comprehensive clean drinking water system. The project includes a complete groundwater well system, a drinking water filtration system meeting required standards, and a drinking water production facility. Training was also provided to responsible personnel on system operation, cleaning, and maintenance. Regular water quality inspections will also be conducted to ensure that the water meets hygiene standards. The project will provide more than 3,000 students, school personnel, and people in surrounding communities with continuous access to clean and hygienic drinking water. A groundwater well was drilled to a depth of 44 meters, with a pumping capacity of 10 cubic meters per hour (10,000 liters per hour). A drinking water treatment system meeting World Health Organization (WHO) standards was also installed. In addition to comprehensively addressing the school’s water shortage, the project helps promote equal access to clean water and contributes to sustainable improvements in the quality of life of students and school personnel.

Furthermore, the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” project has incorporated an additional feature into the clean drinking water production process: a solar power system. This initiative supports Isuzu’s commitment to Carbon Neutrality, one of its key policies, as well as Thailand’s policy promoting the use of renewable energy resources. The solar power system is also expected to help reduce the school’s electricity expenses by approximately THB 3,000 per month.

Mr. Somsri Promyat, Director of the Groundwater Resources Office Region 11, Department of Groundwater Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, said, “We are extremely pleased that Ban Lai Soong School has received support from the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” project. This initiative will provide students, educational personnel, and local residents with sufficient clean water for consumption and daily use. It also serves as a learning resource on water supply systems and water treatment for young people and residents in the area. It is truly a project that creates meaningful benefits and value for the community.”

Ms. Jaruwan Siangphairo, Director of Ban Lai Soong School, spoke about the school’s water challenges: “Our school has experienced a shortage of water for both consumption and daily use. The water available in our existing well is insufficient. During the rainy season, the water is often mixed with soil and mud, while during the dry season, there is hardly any water available at all. Isuzu Group in Thailand recognized this important challenge and came to support us by building a drinking water production facility for consumption and daily use. We would like to sincerely thank the “Isuzu Gives Water… for Life” project. The water system provided by Isuzu produces water that meets the required standards and is safe to drink. This will help our students grow up healthy and strong and become good members of society in the future.”

The “Isuzu Gives Water…for Life” project is a long-term initiative that Isuzu Group remains committed to pursuing in accordance with its pledge to continue the project until there is no school in Thailand facing problems with access to clean drinking water. The project aims to help alleviate and ultimately eliminate the hardship caused by shortages of clean drinking water.
